Rams Odds Surge After Aaron Donald Return: Can LA Go 17-0?
The Los Angeles Rams are +500 to win Super Bowl LXI as of August 31, 2026, the shortest price in the league and the only single-digit number on the board. Aaron Donald coming out of retirement shortened them from +550, and the market now installs L.A. as the favorite in every season-long Rams market it prices: the NFC West, the NFC, a league-high 11.5-win total, and a playoff berth at -500.
The Rams have been circling a title since Seattle knocked them out of the NFC Championship Game 31-27 last January. Then they traded for Myles Garrett, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, and became the clear frontrunner. Now they have talked a three-time DPOY out of retirement on top of that.
Donald is 35 and has not played a snap since the 2023 season, so nobody should pretend this is the 2018 version of him. What matters for the betting markets is that an already stacked roster added a player who can still be a problem on passing downs, and sportsbooks moved accordingly. The question is no longer whether the Rams are a good bet to win the division. It is which of their markets still pays you fairly for taking them.
Here is the full Rams board, what each number is actually telling you, and where I think the money should go.
Latest Los Angeles Rams Odds
The Rams are favored in every season-long market on their own board. Below is every Rams future worth tracking, with the book each price came from, checked on August 31, 2026.
| Rams Market | Latest Odds | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Win Super Bowl LXI | +500 | 7-book consensus |
| Win the NFC | +300 | Fanatics |
| Win the NFC West | -110 | bet365 |
| Make the playoffs | -500 | BetMGM |
| Miss the playoffs | +375 | BetMGM |
| Regular season win total | 11.5 (league high) | Market-wide |
| Over 11.5 wins | -145 | Fanatics |
| Under 11.5 wins | +120 | Fanatics |
| Finish the season 17-0 | +6000 | Undefeated market |
Read the board top to bottom and the story is consistent. The Rams are the most likely Super Bowl winner, they are expected to take back the division they lost to Seattle last season, they are priced for 12 or more wins, and they are the heaviest playoff favorite in football. There is even a novelty market on a perfect season, which tells you how the industry views this roster.
One caution before you act on any of it. Futures prices move daily in the preseason window, and prices differ meaningfully from book to book on the longer numbers. Everything above is a snapshot, not a standing quote, so check the current price at your book before you commit. Some of these markets, the 17-0 line especially, get pulled or repriced the moment Week 1 kicks off.
Futures prices spread out much wider than game lines do. The Rams sat between -105 and -120 to win the NFC West across the books I checked, and the longshot end of that same division board swings far wider than the favorites do. On a bet you will hold for five months, that gap is the whole difference between a fair ticket and a bad one.
How Aaron Donald Changes Rams Super Bowl Odds
Donald’s signing moved the Rams from +550 to +500, the last leg of a summer-long slide that started at +850. He returns on a one-year deal reported at $20 million, worth up to $30 million with playoff incentives, after walking away without warning in March 2024. That is a real commitment for a 35-year-old who has been out of football for two seasons, and the market treated it as one.
Here is how the Rams’ Super Bowl price has moved as the roster came together:
| Roster Stage | Rams Super Bowl Odds | Move |
|---|---|---|
| Before the Myles Garrett trade | +850 | Opening reference |
| After the Garrett trade | +600 | 250 points shorter |
| Entering August | +550 | 50 points shorter |
| After the Aaron Donald signing | +500 | 50 points shorter |
Garrett is the bigger piece of that move, and the price action says so. He won the 2025 Defensive Player of the Year award unanimously after setting the NFL single-season sack record with 23. Pair him with Matthew Stafford, who at 37 became the oldest first-time MVP in league history after leading the NFL in passing yards (4,707) and touchdown passes (46) with a career-low eight interceptions, and the Rams become the first team ever to carry the reigning MVP at quarterback and the reigning Defensive Player of the Year on the same roster.
There is one more piece of context the odds do not show you. Super Bowl LXI is scheduled for February 14, 2027 at SoFi Stadium, which is the Rams’ own building. No team has ever won a Super Bowl at home, and L.A. is the only franchise with a live shot at it this season. Whether that is worth anything on a betting slip is debatable. It is clearly worth something to a locker room that just watched its front office spend like this.
Now the sober part. A +500 price implies roughly 14% after you strip the vig out of a seven-book consensus, and 14% means the field beats the Rams six times out of seven. That is not a knock on the number. It is what being a Super Bowl favorite looks like in a 32-team league, and it is why I treat their futures ticket as the third-best bet on this board rather than the first. If you want the wider field, our breakdown of Super Bowl 2027 odds runs through every contender at their current price.
For reference, here is the top of the board behind them: Buffalo and Baltimore at +1000, defending champion Seattle at +1200, and Kansas City at +1600. The Rams are alone in their tier.
Are the Rams a Good Bet to Win the NFC West?
Yes, and this is the market where I think the price still lags the roster. bet365 has the Rams at -110 to win the NFC West as of August 31, which is close enough to a coin flip that you are getting roughly even money on the team the same book prices as the best in football.
The full division board at bet365:
- Los Angeles Rams: -110
- Seattle Seahawks: +215
- San Francisco 49ers: +320
- Arizona Cardinals: +6600
I had the Rams as my strongest division call of the year when I went through the 2026-27 NFL division odds, and they were plus money at +100 then. The market has shortened them since, which is what happens when a team adds a Hall of Fame defensive tackle in the last week of August. Even after that move, this is still a shorter number than it looks.
The pushback is fair, because the NFC West is loaded. Seattle is the defending Super Bowl champion and won this division outright last season while the Rams finished second. San Francisco is still absurdly talented when healthy. Even Arizona projects to be better than it was.
Two things cut against the field anyway. Super Bowl winners usually deal with some combination of fatigue, roster turnover, raised expectations and injury luck reverting, and a mild step back for Seattle would be the ordinary outcome rather than a surprise. San Francisco is deep and well-coached but skews old and has spent recent seasons managing injuries rather than avoiding them. Arizona is not a realistic threat to win the division. On paper the Rams should be favored by more than the current price implies.
Rams Win Total: Over or Under 11.5 Wins?
The Rams’ regular season win total is 11.5, the highest number posted on any team this year, and Fanatics prices the Over at -145 with the Under at +120. Other books had it at -140 and -135, so this is one to shop. Hitting the Over means matching last year’s 12-5 record with a better roster.
Sean McVay’s track record is the backbone of the case. In nine seasons in Los Angeles he has produced a winning record in eight of them, reached two Super Bowls and won one of them, and cleared 12 wins three separate times. He has also never had a roster like this one.
The complication is the schedule, and it is a real one. Published strength-of-schedule rankings disagree wildly about the Rams depending on whether you weight last year’s records or Vegas win totals, so I would rather show you the actual games than argue about a rank number:
| Week | Opponent | Site |
|---|---|---|
| Week 1 | San Francisco 49ers | Melbourne, Australia |
| Week 3 | Denver Broncos | Away |
| Week 4 | Philadelphia Eagles | Away |
| Week 5 | Buffalo Bills | Home |
| Week 12 | Green Bay Packers | Home |
| Week 13 | Kansas City Chiefs | Home |
| Week 14 | San Francisco 49ers | Away |
| Week 16 | Seattle Seahawks | Away |
| Week 18 | Seattle Seahawks | Home |
That is a brutal opening five weeks and a brutal December, with the Seattle rematch landing on Christmas and the season closing against them at home. Getting to 12 wins through that will take a healthy roster, and the Rams lean on veterans in enough spots that health is a genuine variable. I still take the Over, because a team this talented with this coach and a 17-game schedule needs only to go 12-5 to cash, and McVay has done that or better three times already.
If you want the totals that are priced less efficiently than this one, I went through six NFL win totals worth a longer look earlier this summer.
Will the Rams Make the NFL Playoffs?
The market says almost certainly, and that is exactly why I would leave this one alone. BetMGM has the Rams at -500 to make the playoffs and +375 to miss, the shortest playoff price of any team in football. Laying five units to win one on a football season is a poor use of your bankroll no matter how good the team is.
Think about what the Rams’ season looks like if this bet loses. Missing the postseason entirely would mean something went badly wrong, and it is a far worse outcome for them than finishing 11-6 or losing the division on a tiebreaker. They can fall short of 12 wins and still be exactly who we think they are. They cannot miss the playoffs and be that team.
The only version of this market I find interesting is the other side, and only if you are the kind of bettor who enjoys taking on a crowd. At +375, a $100 ticket on the Rams to miss returns $375 in profit if the season falls apart. The argument for it is thin but not imaginary: this roster leans heavily on older players, Stafford is 37, Donald is 35 and two years removed from football, and a bad injury run in a division with three competent teams could sink a season quickly. I am not betting it. I understand why somebody would.
Can the Rams Go 17-0?
They can, and they almost certainly will not. The market has the Rams around +6000 to finish the regular season 17-0, which is both the shortest undefeated price in the league and a longshot that is priced roughly where the math says it should be. A model run by CBS Sports put the Rams’ chance of a perfect season at about one in 3,967, which converts to a fair price near +5950. You are not getting a bargain here. You are getting a fair price on something extremely unlikely.
The history is blunt about it. Only two teams have finished a regular season undefeated: the 1972 Dolphins at 14-0 and the 2007 Patriots at 16-0. Since the league went to a 17-game schedule in 2021, no team has finished even 16-1. Adding a 17th game did not make perfection a little harder. It made it a different category of hard.
+6000 sounds like a lottery ticket worth buying because the payout is enormous. The payout is enormous because the outcome is close to impossible. A price sitting near its fair value gives you no reason to take it, and this one settles as a loss the first Sunday the Rams drop a game.
The schedule makes the case on its own. The Rams open against San Francisco on September 10 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the NFL’s first regular season game in Australia, and a divisional opener 8,000 miles from home is a strange place to start a chase for history. Both teams make that trip, so it is not the pure road disadvantage it might look like, but nobody’s body clock cares about that distinction.
From there it is Denver on the road in Week 3, Philadelphia on the road in Week 4, and Buffalo at home in Week 5. Green Bay and Kansas City land in back-to-back home weeks in late November and early December. San Francisco again in Week 14. Then Seattle twice, on the road on Christmas and at home in Week 18. Every one of those games is a coin flip away from ending the run, and a 17-0 ticket needs all seventeen.
The Rams have the coaching and the talent to make people pay attention in October. Betting on them to finish it is a different proposition, and you can look at the full official 2026 Rams schedule to see why.
Which Rams Bet Offers the Best Value?
The win total is the best Rams bet on the board, the NFC West is second, and the Super Bowl ticket is third. All three are worth a look. The order matters more than most people treat it.
- 1. Over 11.5 wins (-145, Fanatics). The most winnable of the three. They won 12 games last year with a worse roster, and this bet does not care whether they win a playoff game.
- 2. NFC West (-110, bet365). Near coin-flip money on the team the same book rates as the best in football, in a division where the champion has a normal-sized regression case against it.
- 3. Super Bowl LXI (+500, seven-book consensus). The right side of a market that gives them a roughly 14% implied chance. Real, but the field is still the favorite collectively, and the price only gets worse if they start hot.
One honest note to close on, because the whole article points one direction and somebody should say the other part out loud. Preseason Super Bowl favorites are historically bad bets. Last season the co-favorites were Philadelphia, Buffalo and Baltimore at +700, and all three of them lost to a Seattle team that opened around +6000. The Rams being the most talented roster in football and the Rams being a profitable ticket are two different claims, and only the first one is settled.
If you are taking a position, take the winnable ones first. That is the win total and the division, and both of them pay out well before anyone has to think about February.

L.A. Rams Odds FAQ
The questions I get asked most about betting the Rams this season, answered with the prices as they stood on August 31, 2026. Every one of these markets moves, so treat the numbers as a starting point and check your book before you bet.
What are the Rams’ Super Bowl odds right now?
The Rams are +500 to win Super Bowl LXI as of August 31, 2026, the shortest price in the NFL and the only single-digit number on the board. That implies roughly a 14% chance once you remove the vig from a seven-book consensus. Buffalo and Baltimore are next at +1000, with defending champion Seattle at +1200.
Is the Rams’ 11.5-win total actually worth betting?
I think the Over is the best Rams bet available, though it is not a bargain at -145. The Rams won 12 games last season with a less talented roster, and Sean McVay has cleared 12 wins three times in nine years in Los Angeles. The catch is the schedule, which includes Denver, Philadelphia and Buffalo inside the first five weeks and Seattle twice in the last three.
How likely is it that the Rams actually go 17-0?
Very unlikely, and the +6000 price is close to fair rather than generous. A CBS Sports model put the Rams’ odds of a perfect season at roughly one in 3,967, which prices out near +5950. Only the 1972 Dolphins and 2007 Patriots have finished a regular season undefeated, and no team has finished even 16-1 since the NFL added a 17th game in 2021.
Should I bet the Rams to win the NFC West, or is the price too short?
At -110 the price is still fair, and it is the bet I like second-best on this board. You are getting close to even money on the team most books rate as the best in football. Seattle at +215 is a legitimate obstacle as the defending champion and last year’s division winner, but Super Bowl winners usually take a small step back, and San Francisco at +320 is talented and old.
Why did the Rams’ odds move so much this offseason?
Two roster moves did nearly all of it. Trading for Myles Garrett, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, took the Rams from +850 to +600, and Aaron Donald coming out of retirement on August 30 took them from +550 to +500. Along with reigning MVP Matthew Stafford, that makes Los Angeles the first team in NFL history to carry the previous season’s MVP and Defensive Player of the Year on the same roster.
