Birmingham Stallions vs. Louisville Kings Prediction (March 27th, 2026)
The UFL is back on Friday night. The league kicks off its 2026 season in the heart of March Madness, which is quite the decision. But hey, we get real, live football, and we can bet on it.
The first UFL game of the season pits the Birmingham Stallions against the Louisville Kings, while these teams – along with all the others – hit a mild reset button with a plethora of new faces on each respective roster.
That makes for quite the possible edge, as nobody really knows what to expect going into this game, or this season. DraftKings has the Stallions favored by 5.5 points even though they’re on the road.
Does that give bettors easy value with the home team, or should you back Birmingham to cover the spread? Let’s dive into this matchup to find the best picks and come away with a final Birmingham Stallions vs. Louisville Kings prediction.
Game Info Snapshot
- Spread: Birmingham Stallions (0-0) vs. Louisville Kings (0-0)
- Date: Friday, March 27th, 2025
- Time: Kickoff at 7:00 pm (8:00 pm ET)
- Venue: Lynn Family Stadium in Louisville, KY
- How to Watch: FOX
- Spread: Stallions -5.5 (-110) | Kings +5.5 (-110)
- Moneyline: Stallions (-270) | Kings (+220)
- Total: Over 42.5 (-110) | Under 42.5 (-110)
There has been a lot of player movement in the UFL given the league’s realignment, but the Stallions still enter as a former UFL champion with a lot of talent on their roster. That’s a big reason they’re 5.5-point favorites on the road.
This is still a pretty big spread for a road favorite, while we get a modest total that could be topped pretty easily, even by the UFL’s standards.
Storylines to Watch
There are some wild storylines heading into this one, and some could impact how you bet on the Stallions vs. Kings. Here are the big ones to consider:
- 4-Peat?: This is not the same Stallions team that we’ve seen in the past, but they still have a ton of talent and will be looking to jump out to a hot 1-0 start as they seek a 4th UFL title.
- Transition: One of the biggest storylines is the fact that former Battlehawks quarterback AJ McCarron is now roaming the sidelines as Birmingham’s head coach.
- Debut: Former Louisville QB and hometown hero Chris Redman takes over the expansion Kings. Everything is new for Louisville, while Redman runs a team for the first time in his coaching career. The city debuts its first spring football team
Team Profiles

Birmingham Stallions
It remains to be seen if AJ McCarron can navigate the UFL sidelines at the same level he played quarterback in this league. The 35-year-old has a lot to prove, but we know the Stallions are built for success.
Birmingham won the UFL title two years ago, and in 2025, they were still quite strong, finishing second during the regular season at 7-3.
Things have changed up top and with some roster turnover, but here are the key tidbits you need to know before placing any bets:
- Matt Corral: Unlike the expansion teams, there’s at least some continuity with a team like Birmingham, which retains quarterback Matt Corral. The former Ole Miss product put up 648 yards and four touchdowns while adding an effective rushing dynamic last season.
- Ground Game: The explosive Anthony McFarland (6.2 ypc last year) headlines a pretty deep running back room that looks to aid Corrall. The Stallions ranked 4th on the ground last year and should be among the UFL’s best rushing offenses again in 2026.
- Stingy D: Birmingham will hope to return a nasty defense, too. The Stallions ranked 2nd in scoring defense a year ago, and if that holds true in this opener, they’ll definitely have a clear advantage against a young and unproven offense.

Louisville Kings
Everything about the Kings is brand new, as this team didn’t exist last year. From coaching to the talent on the roster, everyone has something to prove. But they’ll also be underdogs on their home field for that very reason.
That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be excited to see what the Kings have to offer – or to consider backing them for the upset win. Here are a few things to consider before betting for or against Louisville, though:
- Down Goes Adams: Jonathan Adams had been quite productive while with Memphis the past two years (64 catches, 859 yards, 3 TDs), but he’s already on IR. That makes life more difficult through the air for the Kings, and instantly thrusts guys like Tarik Black and Lucky Jackson into even bigger roles. How they respond will be key in a tough matchup.
- Bean Szn: Former Kansas product Jason Bean is being handed the reins of the Louisville offense. Bean was fairly productive and dynamic for the Jayhawks, and it led to him being the #1 pick by Memphis in the 2024 UFL Draft. He tried making it in the NFL first, but now he makes his official UFL debut with Louisville and will be looking to make a positive first impression.
- Home Energy: Overall, there’s just a lot of unknown with this team. There could be something to be said about this being their first game in the UFL; however, so don’t be shocked if the emotions and energy surrounding a team debut could elevate them a bit.
Key Matchups & Angles
Check out the key Stallions vs. Kings matchups:
- Bean’s Mobility vs. Veteran Stallions Defense: Bean is a dynamic player who was very sought after by the UFL coming out of Kansas, so there is potential for him to wreck in his debut. The Stallions did have a very good defense last year, however, so it’s likely they keep him relatively in check in his first meaningful football in some time.
- Birmingham’s Ground Game vs. Kings Defense: It’s unknown just how effective Louisville will be on the ground just yet. However, we do know Matt Corral can run, and the Stallions also have three legit running backs – all of which have some level of NFL experience. I’d guess they have the leg up in this matchup.

Best Bets for Ravens vs. Packers
Pick 1: Louisville Kings +5.5 ATS (-112) 7/10 Confidence
Why We Like It
This is the best bet on the board when factoring in value and different variables. There’s a lot baked into this debut for Louisville, while Matt Corral still isn’t the most reliable quarterback on the other side. I don’t mind leaning into the hype a bit and just banking on the Kings being at least competitive in their first UFL game.
Risks/What to Watch
The downside, of course, is that there’s a litany of “firsts” for Louisville. Jason Bean makes his first UFL start, Chris Redman is coaching his first UFL game – the list goes on. The Stallions offer way more experience and stability, so this could very easily spiral out of control in a hurry.
Pick 2: Under 42.5 (-110) – 7/10 Confidence
Why We Like It
Birmingham had the 2nd best scoring defense in the UFL in 2025, and the Kings are unproven. That’s a pretty lethal combination, while UFL scoring inherently can be low and unpredictable.
Risks/What to Watch
The UFL expansion saw some roster turnover, and the Kings are a total unknown. They could rise to the challenge and be better than expected offensively, or the gap between these two sides could be so large that Birmingham rolls in a wild blowout.
Pick 3: Prop Play – Jaden Shirden Anytime TD Scorer (+145) – 6/10 Confidence
Why We Like It
Shirden figures to be a focal point for the Louisville rushing attack. We don’t have a clue about projected touches or anything, but he’s a shifty and explosive back who was very productive in college. If any of that translates, I love him as a plus-money bet to find the endzone.
Risks/What to Watch
We don’t know Louisville’s exact backfield rotation, and the matchup isn’t that amazing on paper. Targeting someone like Anthony McFarland (-120) would be inherently safer, but the value here is pretty appealing despite the risk.
The Stallions vs. Kings betting market reflects Birmingham’s edge in experience despite Louisville’s home-field advantage. Compare updated odds at our top football betting sites.
Final Verdict: Stallions Take Care of Business, But Kings Impress
Coming to a Birmingham Stallions vs. Louisville Kings prediction isn’t easy, seeing as we simply don’t know how good some of these teams are yet. Heck, until we actually see the product, we can’t even be sure which players will be used and how their teams will utilize them.
There’s a lot of risk in betting on the UFL in general – especially in the first week of the 2026 season – but week 1 UFL betting also offers upside. If we don’t see a clear edge, the top football betting sites probably don’t have it, either.
That is the edge, in my opinion. We can safely project Birmingham as the veteran team with more experience and arguably more predictability. They’re a good bet to win due to that, and if you want to bet on their -250 ML, you can do that.
But there’s energy, emotion, and edge with rolling with the Kings to make this thing interesting. I dig them at +5.5, and I don’t mind betting on someone like Shirden scoring at plus money, either.
Final Score Prediction: Birmingham Stallions 22, Louisville Kings 19
