USA vs. Canada Women’s Hockey Prediction (February 10th 2026)

USA vs. Canada Women's Hockey - 2026 Winter Olympics Logo

The battle between the USA and Canada rages on in women’s hockey at the 2026 Winter Olympics. Team USA and Canada will face off on Tuesday afternoon, with the United States entering as -145 betting favorites at DraftKings.

The women’s US hockey team also enters as 1.5 PL favorites (+180), so if you think they’re in for a breeze, you could aim high and obtain elite value. That isn’t an outlandish thought, either, especially when you consider that Team USA beat Canada in all four meetings earlier this year.

The United States won those games pretty convincingly, but there is more at stake here. It isn’t life or death just yet, as everyone is fighting for position in the group stage, but neither of these teams will want to lose.

Recent Form & Context

To get a better idea as to what to expect out of this matchup, let’s quickly break down how these teams have fared to this point.

USA

  • Team USA is backed by Hilary Knight, with the veteran Captain appearing in her 5th Olympics.
  • Taylor Heise provides elite playmaking, while the likes of Abbey Murphy and Laila Edwards are two more key contributors.
  • The United States has flashed elite offense so far, scoring 5+ goals in their first three games – dominant wins over Czechia, Finland, and Switzerland.

Canada

  • Team Canada is stacked with talent like Marie-Philip Poulin, Sarah Nurse, Brianne Jenner, and Natalie Spooner, among the team’s standouts.
  • Canada was runner-up at the Women’s World Championships in 2025 and won gold at the Olympics in 2022.
  • Canada looked strong in a 4-0 win over Switzerland in their first game of group play, and they followed that up by easily dispatching Czechia.

Matchup Breakdown

Team USA and Canada faced off four times earlier this year, and it was all US. The United States fields several top players from the PWHL, with Taylor Heise being one of the best playmakers in all of hockey.

Heise is part of a dynamic and explosive Team USA offense that leans on a fast tempo and a plethora of skilled scorers. Veteran experience from Hillary Knight gives them an edge, as she was part of the team that won gold back in 2018.

The United States has looked like the best offensive team in their group so far, while their defense has also been smothering. The team is also competitive in power play and has the depth and puck movement to go toe-to-toe with anyone.

Canada won gold in 2022, but they will have their work cut out for them against Team USA at these Winter Olympics. That said, they return a lot of the same veteran leaders that won last time, and they boast a high IQ at both ends of the ice.

Much like the US, Canada is very deep and balanced, and they have historically held an edge in power play. Aging star Jocelyne Larocque is part of a fierce defense that can thrive in penalty kill situations.

Playing Styles & Trends

  • USA: Team USA is a dynamic and fast offensive team that has age and athleticism on their side. They have been extremely tough to stop so far in group play and will be a tough assignment for a Canada team that couldn’t figure them out earlier this year.
  • Canada: Team Canada is potentially deeper and definitely more experienced, while their offense is slower than the USA’s and more reliant on controlling possession.
  • Special Teams: Both teams are fully capable of taking advantage when they have the numbers. Team USA can be aggressive with puck movement, and they boast killer closing speed, while Canada is different with a more patient approach that emphasizes zone time.
  • Defense: Canada is very disciplined and experienced, so they will be able to hold their own against just about anyone. However, age and speed could be factors that work against them. Team USA has a nice blend of stay-at-home defenders and transition sparks, but so far, their defense has looked scarier in these Winter Games.

Betting Market Notes

  • Puck Line (1.5: +180/-218): This game isn’t super meaningful in the grand scheme of things, but there’s no denying that the US has had Canada’s number recently. They beat them by two in four straight games in November and December, making the -1.5 puck line bet very appealing at a +180 price.
  • Moneyline (-145/+115): There’s value on either side of this bet, but given USA’s recent form and 4-0 sweep of Canada this year, their -145 moneyline stands out as one of the better values on the board.
  • Total (5.5: +110/-130): Perhaps two capable defenses limit the scoring, but I tend to assume fireworks could be in order. Team USA has 4+ goals in each of the last five games against Canada, but it’s worth noting Canada has struggled (7 total goals) to score over the last seven meetings.

BetWhy Do We Like It?Confidence

Team USA ML (-145)

Team USA is looking like the team to beat in the early going. They have also had Canada’s number lately, so their ML stands out as a screaming value.

9/10

Team USA PL -1.5 (+180)

The USA has topped Canada by at least two goals in each of their four meetings this year, and they’ve done that in both of their group play games so far as well. They’ve been dominant enough to swing for the fences when it comes to the puck line.

7/10

Over 5.5 (+110)

The United States dropped 10 goals on Canada in a recent outing. Both offenses are capable of heating up, so don’t be shocked if we get a lot of offense in this heated rivalry.

6/10

Risk Factors & What Could Go Wrong

Betting on hockey can be risky, so keep the following things in mind when placing these USA vs. Canada women’s hockey bets:

  • Upset Special: Team USA has owned Canada lately, but the tables can always get turned over. There isn’t much on the line in this game, either, so it’s always possible the Americans don’t go as hard as bettors would like.
  • Tight Affair: I am betting on a 2-goal win for the US, but it’s the Winter Olympics. Every team here is good to an extent, and when you consider the rivalry, it’s entirely possible Canada comes to play.
  • Defensive Battle: USA has an explosive offense, and they should do most of the heavy-lifting, but this could also turn into a low-scoring defense battle. Or the US dominates, but shuts Canada down defensively like they’ve been doing.

USA vs. Canada Women’s Olympic Hockey Prediction

The United States is looking like the best team in women’s hockey at the moment. It’s early, but I think they have a real shot at winning gold, and I certainly like their chances to knock off a Canada team they’ve gotten used to.

My main USA vs. Canada prediction is that the United States gets the win. You can get solid value on their -145 moneyline, and they have simply looked way too sharp on offense lately. Add in their elite defense and combination of veteran leadership and spry youngsters, and it’s tough to imagine them bowing to their international rivals.

Secondary bets to target include Team USA’s puck line and the Over. I like both, and you can get them at plus money. If you’re looking for just one Team USA vs. Canada pick, however, hammer the moneyline in favor of the US.

Final Score Prediction: Team USA 4, Team Canada 2
