Boston Common Golf vs. The Bay Golf Club TGL Prediction (January 26, 2026)
The second season of TMRW Golf League (TGL) is underway, and we get a fun showdown on Monday night with Boston Common Golf taking on The Bay Golf Club.
The iconic Rory McIlroy leads Boston Common Golf up against Wyndham Clark, as his crew seeks a 2-0 start, and The Bay Golf Club hopes to avoid a 0-2 hole.
This is a very new way to bet on golf, with star-studded teams of three duking it out on a huge simulator screen, and also going head-to-head in short-game competition.
TGL is an exciting brand of action-packed golf, and it gives bettors another way to bet and win. For this showdown, you simply have to pick who you think will win, but there’s admittedly a bit of nuance to it.
I’ll consider all sides of this matchup and work my way to a Boston Common Golf vs. The Bay Golf Club prediction.

Early Season Performance & Trends
Boston Common Golf
The aforementioned McIlroy stands out as the top star for this squad, but it is undeniably stacked with the likes of Keegan Bradley, Hideki Matsuyama, and Adam Scott on the official roster.
McIlroy is going to be the driving force in terms of driving on the simulator screen, while his putting can be on the streaky side. We did see him have a clutch performance in Boston’s first game, as the team accepted a Hammer throw and he sank a 10-footer to score two points.
It was actually reserve Michael Thorbjornsen who really delivered, of course, as he nailed a 15-foot eagle putt to bring the win home. He will be center stage again for Boston, as neither Matsuyama nor Scott aren’t scheduled to be in the starting lineup.

The Bay Golf Club
The Bay Golf Club is off to a 0-1 start, as they fell to undefeated Atlanta (7-4) in a game that started off close. Atlanta got off to a 3-2 lead in that game, overcoming an early 2-1 deficit and ultimately pulling away for the 7-4 win.
Atlanta really got it done in the Singles portion of the competition. Shane Lowry got things going initially on the 10th hole to even things up for The Bay Golf Club, but it was all Atlanta from that point on. Wyndham Clark sank a putt in the 15th hole, but it was too little, too late.
Coming into Monday’s showdown, Lowry and Clark are again on hand to battle for a win, while Min Woo Lee replaces Ludvig Aberg in the starting three.

Key Matchup Breakdown
Rory McIlroy is the big name here, as we know he can hit the ball far with accuracy, and his putting is strong when he’s feeling it. A streaky putter can definitely hurt him and his team, but judging from his first performance, he appears to be dialed in.
There is a fun narrative with McIlroy going against a familiar foe in Lowry on the other side. So far, Rory is pretty even (4-4-4) in Singles, while Lowry has a lot to prove at 2-7-3 in the same setting.
Keegan Bradley is another dangerous ball striker, as he’s pretty consistent and can be an excellent setup man. He’s also cool under pressure and may be needed early with a lot of water in play on Monday’s course.
Last, but not least, there’s Thorbjornsen, who was the star of the show in Boston’s last game. They may not have pulled out the win without him, and he earned a spot in the starting lineup for this match. If he can pull his weight and keep putting like he did in their first game, they will be in business.
This team has yet to get a win, and their first game didn’t promote a ton of confidence down the stretch. That said, they were up 2-1 and 3-2 at one point, so they may just need to figure out a way to perfect their strategy (particularly with Hammer throws) and execute better in Singles.
On paper, this team looks strong, as big names like Ludwig Aberg, Wyndham Clark, Min Woo Lee, and Shane Lowry give them a stacked roster. For this particular matchup, though, Lowry, Clark, and Lee will be called upon.
In terms of overall talent and consistency, this does stand out as the more reliable team, but they could end up missing Aberg’s driving. Still, Clark is a stud shot maker, Lee provides huge upside, and Clark is arguably the most balanced and reliable player they have.
- Drive Advantage: The Bay Golf Club has the edge here, no matter what. McIlroy is the one to fear for Boston, while The Bay Golf could easily miss Aberg’s driving. Even so, I think they have the edge here.
- Hammer Time: You can turn one point into two depending on when Hammers are thrown and how you execute in the clutch. Through one game, Boston has utilized and executed better when the Hammer has come into play.

Rory and his Boston Common Golf squad enter as mild favorites. They’re off to a 1-0 start after netting their first win in TGL competition. Without Aberg in the lineup – and coming off a tough loss – The Bay Golf Club are a value, but an understandable underdog.
From a Bettor’s Lens
This line is super tight, making it a legit toss-up. Rory is the biggest name in this matchup, but that doesn’t mean his team actually grades out as the best. In terms of driving upside and star power, The Bay Golf Club immediately stands out as a compelling value bet.
Situational Considerations
It’s pretty arguable that Boston Common Golf is too shorthanded for this matchup. They will once again rely on Michael Thorbjornsen, who came up big last game, but might not be quite as reliable as the other golfers in this matchup.
The Bay Golf Club also will be without Aberg, who brings serious power to the table.
Best Bets & Confidence Levels
| Bet | Rationale | Confidence Level |
|---|---|---|
The Bay Golf Club (+100) | Rory is the biggest name here, but The Bay Golf Club has the more balanced team. After taking their lumps, I think they use the Hammer better and execute down the stretch to right the ship. | 7/10 |

Final Score Prediction & Closing Thoughts
Final Score Prediction: The Bay Golf Club 7, Boston Common Golf 5
I don’t like betting against Rory McIlroy, but my The Bay Golf Club vs. Boston Common Golf prediction is that both of these teams get to 1-1.
Boston isn’t the easiest team to trust. They’re once again confiding in a guy who started off the year as a reserve, while their first 2026 win was also the first they got in league history.
The big thing is balance. The Bay Golf Club has three very dangerous golfers who can bring serious power and clutch play to the table. There’s a decent chance they collectively out-drive their opponents, and the rest will come down to sinking putts and picking their spots with their Hammer throws.
Ultimately, Boston is going to see the script flipped here. Rory will keep them in this one early, but I’m not sold we’ll get clutch play from Thorbjornsen two games in a row.
