Very little of it. The four people most responsible for that margin have all moved on, and TCU is rebuilding the same units that produced it.
- QB Josh Hoover transferred to Indiana, leaving Craig as TCU’s only non-freshman quarterback.
- OC Kendal Briles left for South Carolina. Gordon Sammis replaces him, arriving from UConn with a slower tempo and a heavier run game.
- Leading rusher Kevorian Barnes is gone. His 75-yard touchdown on the first snap of the second half broke that game open.
- Both defensive scorers, Bud Clark and Devean Deal, are off the roster. Their scores were 14 of TCU’s 48 points.
That rebuild cuts against a repeat blowout in one specific way. Sammis wants to run the football, and TCU finished 100th of 134 FBS teams in rushing offense last season. A slower, ground-based offense with a first-time FBS starter means fewer possessions, which is how favorites fail to cover big numbers.

Steve Belichick has been on indefinite medical leave since August 6 and is not expected to travel to Dublin. Bill Belichick declined to give a timetable and named no interim coordinator, saying the staff would coach the defense collectively.

What the Price Says About TCU’s Edge
The moneyline implies TCU wins about three times in four. Stripping the vig out of the consensus price across eleven books puts the Horned Frogs near 74 percent and the Tar Heels near 26 percent, roughly what a nine-point spread should look like.
