The DFS State Finder tells you, for any U.S. state, whether traditional salary-cap DFS and pick’em DFS are available, which of the major operators serve you, the minimum age, and the governing authority, with a verification date on every entry. It is the fastest way to cut through a confusing, fast-changing legal picture before you sign up.
DFS Lineup Optimizer
Our DFS Lineup Optimizer is live. It fills every roster spot under the DraftKings salary cap, and it starts from numbers you can go and check yourself rather than a projection set you have to take on faith: DraftKings’ own published salary, roster-slot eligibility and listed average for every player on the slate, joined to the betting market’s implied total for every team playing.
Every projection cell is yours to edit. Change a number and the lineup rebuilds around it. Lock the players you have already decided on, rule out the ones you will not roster, and let the solver fill what is left. That is the part most optimizers get backwards. The tool should work with your read of a slate rather than replace it.
The team-total column is the piece you will not find in most free builders. We take the median posted total across the regulated sportsbooks we track and strip the vig out of the two-sided price, so the figure reflects what the market actually expects a team to score. One caveat worth stating plainly: on a typical baseball slate most teams land on either 3.5 or 4.5, so that column sorts teams into broad tiers rather than separating them finely.
The optimizer runs on MLB and WNBA main slates, the two sports where DraftKings lists real contests and sportsbooks post team totals we can verify. NFL support is written and tested but stays switched off until DraftKings lists genuine NFL slates rather than simulations.
How to Use an Optimizer Without Handing Over Your Judgment
An optimizer is a calculator, not an oracle. It solves one narrow problem extremely well: given a set of projections and a salary cap, which combination of players scores the most points on paper? It knows nothing about the projections it was handed. Feed it listed season averages and it will faithfully build the best lineup those averages imply, which is also the lineup thousands of other people running the same defaults will land on.
The value shows up when you disagree with it. A pitcher facing a lineup the market has priced for two runs is worth more than his season average suggests. A hitter batting second tonight after a month batting seventh is a different player than his listed figure implies. Those are edits only you can make, and the moment you make one, the lineup that comes back is yours rather than the field’s.
- Start from the defaults, then argue with them. Build once with the listed numbers to see the shape of the slate, then edit the handful of players you have an actual opinion about.
- Lock sparingly. Every player you pin removes salary and roster flexibility from the solve. Two or three anchors is usually enough.
- Treat team totals as tiers, not decimals. The gap between a 5.5 and a 3.5 team matters. The gap between 4.5 and 4.4 does not.
- Do not enter the same lineup everywhere. One optimal build is a cash-game answer. Tournaments reward being different from the field, which usually means overriding the tool on purpose.

What These Tools Will Not Do
None of these tools predict results, and none of them tell you what to enter. The State Finder reports what regulators and operators publish about availability; it is not legal advice, and it will not tell you whether a contest is a good idea. The optimizer solves an arithmetic problem against numbers you supply; a lineup it calls optimal is optimal only if the projections behind it were right, and on most slates some of them will not be.
We also do not publish win-rate claims, expected-value figures or edge estimates for any of this, because we cannot verify them and neither can you. Daily fantasy is entertainment with real money attached. Tools can make you better informed and faster. They cannot make a losing habit profitable, and any tool that promises otherwise is selling something.
