Steelers vs. Browns Player Props: 5 Best Bets for Thursday Night Football
The days of ugly Thursday Night Football games may be back. The last two Thursday games produced 72 points (Bills 41, Lions 31) and 49 points (Falcons 35, Packers 14), but Week 4 opens with a classic short-week defensive battle: DraftKings has Steelers vs. Browns at 38.5, tied for the lowest total on its Week 4 board. My favorite Steelers vs. Browns player prop is Aaron Rodgers over 199.5 passing yards at -145 on DraftKings, and I also like T.J. Watt to record a sack, DK Metcalf to score, Denzel Boston over 39.5 receiving yards and Jaylen Warren over 59.5 rushing yards.
Both of these teams are impossibly 2-1, which means one of them will be 3-1 after four games. Inconceivable, I know, but it’s happening. Pittsburgh beat Atlanta 20-13, lost 20-3 at New England and edged Cincinnati 30-27 on Sunday. Cleveland lost 34-10 at Jacksonville, then won 23-19 at Tampa Bay and beat Carolina 21-18 in its home opener. Kickoff is 8:15 p.m. ET on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland, streaming on Prime Video. Best Steelers vs. Browns Player Props
Here is the full card. I updated this card on Wednesday evening with the final injury reports and fresh prices. Four of the five prices are from DraftKings as of 6:31 p.m. ET on Wednesday, September 30, 2026. The fifth, Watt’s sack prop, still had not been posted at any regulated book. The confidence column shows how strongly I feel about each play. It is not a probability or a claim of value.
| Player | Prop | Pick | Odds | Confidence |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| T.J. Watt | Sacks | Over 0.5 | Not posted yet | 4/5 |
| DK Metcalf | Anytime Touchdown | Yes | +235 | 4/5 |
| Aaron Rodgers | Passing Yards (200+) | Over 199.5 | -145 | 5/5 |
| Denzel Boston | Receiving Yards (40+) | Over 39.5 | -103 | 4/5 |
| Jaylen Warren | Rushing Yards (60+) | Over 59.5 | -227 | 4/5 |
DraftKings now has the best price on Rodgers, but it trails other books on Metcalf, Boston and Warren, so this card is still worth shopping.
As of 6:31 p.m. ET on September 30, 2026, Fanatics has Metcalf to score at +265 (DraftKings +235), so a $100 winner returns $365 instead of $335; BetMGM is at +250. BetRivers and Fanatics have Boston over 39.5 receiving yards at +100 (DraftKings -103), and Caesars has Warren over 59.5 rushing yards at -213 (DraftKings -227). DraftKings has the best price on Rodgers over 199.5 passing yards at -145 (-152 at Caesars, -159 at BetRivers).
Steelers vs. Browns Odds and Game Info
Pittsburgh is a 2.5-point road favorite at DraftKings (-120), and the total is 38.5. The spread has hardly moved since DraftKings opened the game at Steelers -2.5 on August 13, the first day our odds archive has it. The total is where the market moved: it opened at 40.5, was down to 38.5 by September 22, and dipped to 37.5 a few times on Sunday and Monday before settling back at 38.5 on Monday night. It was still 38.5 on Wednesday evening at every regulated book except BetRivers (38). DraftKings and FanDuel still had Steelers -2.5 on Wednesday evening, while BetMGM, Caesars and BetRivers had moved to -3.

The final injury reports came out Wednesday, and none of the five players on this card appear on either one. Pittsburgh ruled out running back Rico Dowdle (toe), who did not practice all week, and cornerback Joey Porter Jr. (back), and listed cornerbacks Jalen Ramsey (wrist) and Brandin Echols (concussion) as questionable. Cleveland ruled out center Elgton Jenkins (concussion), guard Teven Jenkins (back) and receiver Tylan Wallace (knee). Tackle Tytus Howard (knee), cornerback Tyson Campbell (knee) and safety Grant Delpit (shoulder) practiced fully on Wednesday and carry no game designation. The latest National Weather Service forecast for Cleveland, updated Wednesday afternoon, calls for a mostly cloudy, dry game: rain chances of 4% or less each hour from 8 to 11 p.m., showers not likely until after 2 a.m., temperatures in the mid 70s and a south-southwest wind of 8 to 9 mph. Rain would have hurt the passing props more than the rushing one, so a dry forecast helps this card.
1. T.J. Watt Over 0.5 Sacks
This is the one prop on the card you still can’t bet. No regulated book had a sack market up for this game as of Wednesday evening, but it’s one to hop on the second it posts.
Why I’m betting it: The Browns may be 2-1, but their pass protection hasn’t been great. Cleveland comes into this game allowing a 9.8% sack rate (nine sacks on 92 dropbacks), which ranks 30th, per TeamRankings, and it has ruled out two starting offensive linemen, center Elgton Jenkins and guard Teven Jenkins, for Thursday. On the other side of the line is Watt, who has been very aggressive through three weeks. He had two sacks and a 35-yard pick-six in the Week 1 win over Atlanta, then 1.5 more sacks at New England. He couldn’t get to Joe Burrow last week, but given the matchup in front of him, I love his chances on Thursday night.
The key stat: 17.5 sacks in 15 career regular-season games against Cleveland, per StatMuse, including 8.5 in six games in Cleveland. Thursday nights have been a fun spot for him, too: he has 3.5 sacks in eight career Thursday games.
The risk: The recent history against Cleveland is cooler than the career number. Watt has half a sack in his last three games against the Browns, including a sackless Thursday night in Cleveland in 2024. We also don’t have a price yet, so check what it costs before you bet. A sack prop at -150, for example, needs him to get home 60% of the time.
The verdict: Over 0.5 sacks, once a regulated book posts it. Confidence: 4/5.
2. DK Metcalf Anytime Touchdown (+235)
DK Metcalf has had an interesting start to the 2026 season. He has found the end zone once through three games, and he has been heavily targeted.
Why I’m betting it: Metcalf saw 10 targets in Week 1 and nine more in Week 2, so even though only five balls came his way last week, we know he’ll be involved in Pittsburgh’s passing game. His 24 targets lead the team (Roman Wilson is next with 18), and his touchdown was a 6-yard catch against Cincinnati.
The key stat: The role is strong, and so is the matchup. The Browns are allowing 23.7 points per game, and all six touchdowns they have given up came through the air. Their two passing touchdowns allowed per game rank 23rd, while no team has allowed fewer rushing touchdowns (zero). Metcalf is a huge piece of Pittsburgh’s offensive puzzle, and his touchdown price is a lot longer than Jaylen Warren’s (-115) or Quinshon Judkins’ (+120). At +235, he needs to score about 30% of the time to break even.
The risk: The targets haven’t turned into production yet. Metcalf has caught 11 of his 24 for 98 yards. A 38.5 total also leaves Pittsburgh with an implied 20.5 points, which isn’t a lot of touchdowns to go around.
The verdict: Anytime touchdown, yes (+235 at DraftKings, +265 at Fanatics, +250 at BetMGM). Confidence: 4/5.
3. Aaron Rodgers Over 199.5 Passing Yards (-145)
You may not think of the Steelers as a pass-happy offense if you look at their history, but Pittsburgh has been very pass-centric in 2026.
Why I’m betting it: The Steelers own the fourth-highest pass rate in football, 64.7% of their plays per TeamRankings, and rank sixth in pass attempts per game at 38.3. Rodgers isn’t posting elite production, but he’s averaging 233 passing yards a game. The Browns are allowing 224 net passing yards per game, which ranks 18th.
The key stat: Two of three. Rodgers threw for 221 yards against Atlanta and 292 with three touchdowns against Cincinnati, and he came up short with 187 in the 20-3 loss at New England. The -145 price needs him to clear 199.5 about 59% of the time.
The risk: It’s a short week, and Rodgers is tough to trust at 42. Cleveland’s pass rush (20th in sack rate) isn’t overly scary as a unit, but Mason Graham already has four sacks. Rodgers has been sacked eight times, four of them at New England, although the forecast now looks dry. DraftKings’ main line is 210.5 at -111 if you’d rather take a bigger number at a cheaper price.
The verdict: Over 199.5 passing yards (-145 at DraftKings, -152 at Caesars). Confidence: 5/5.
4. Denzel Boston Over 39.5 Receiving Yards (-103)
While the Steelers should see Aaron Rodgers put up 200-plus passing yards on Thursday night, we can also tap into the Browns for some receiving yards.
Why I’m betting it: That could come in the form of Denzel Boston, the rookie second-round pick out of Washington. You can still get even money on him to reach 40 receiving yards at BetRivers and Fanatics, which is a little surprising, since he has cleared that number in all three of his games (59, 95 and 41). The early Steelers vs. Browns odds also suggest Cleveland may be playing this one from behind as a 2.5-point home underdog, and Pittsburgh’s secondary is banged up: cornerback Joey Porter Jr. (back) has been ruled out, and cornerbacks Jalen Ramsey (wrist) and Brandin Echols (concussion) are questionable after three limited practices.
The key stat: 195 receiving yards, the most on the team, ahead of Harold Fannin Jr. (126) and KC Concepcion (80). Boston averages 65 yards a game, so 39.5 is a low hurdle. At -103, you need him to clear it about 51% of the time.
The risk: The market has bounced around on him. DraftKings cut his main line from 38.5 on Monday night to 33.5 on Tuesday morning, then moved it back up to 37.5 by Wednesday evening, which is why the 39.5 alternate went from +123 to -103. FanDuel and BetRivers also sit at 37.5, and BetMGM is at 35.5. His yards also come in big chunks, not steady volume: he has nine catches on 15 targets, with two catches in two of his three games, and he cleared 40 by a single yard last week. Pittsburgh’s pass defense is a step up, too, allowing 192.7 passing yards per game (eighth).
The verdict: Over 39.5 receiving yards (-103 at DraftKings, +100 at BetRivers and Fanatics). Confidence: 4/5.
5. Jaylen Warren Over 59.5 Rushing Yards (-227)
You can get a bigger payout with a Jaylen Warren anytime touchdown (-115) or a higher rushing number, but this alternate line is the steadiest way to bet on his workload.
Why I’m betting it: Rico Dowdle’s status was the key, and it’s settled. Dowdle hurt his toe in the loss at New England, missed Week 3, did not practice all week and was ruled out on Wednesday, per the Steelers’ Week 4 injury report. That sets up the Jaylen Warren show again. Cleveland hasn’t been very stingy against the run, either: it is allowing 120.3 rushing yards per game, 23rd in the league.
The key stat: 17 carries for 127 yards against Cincinnati, on 90% of the offensive snaps, with an 87-yard run wiped out by a holding penalty. Mike McCarthy called him “the focal point” after the game.
The risk: With Dowdle healthy, Warren ran for 46 and 43 yards in the first two games, so he has cleared 60 once in three tries. At -227 you need him to do it about 69% of the time, and the market has already priced in Dowdle’s absence: DraftKings moved Warren’s main line from 65.5 on Tuesday morning to 72.5 by Wednesday evening. He was also on last week’s injury report with a shoulder injury, but he isn’t on this week’s. The price is the catch now, not the role.
The verdict: Over 59.5 rushing yards (-227 at DraftKings, -213 at Caesars). With Dowdle ruled out, this is one of my favorite plays on the card, even at the steeper price. Confidence: 4/5.
Steelers vs. Browns Player Prop Betting Strategy
Thursday Night Football calls for a slightly different approach to player props, because both teams are working on a short week. That means paying close attention to the game odds, the weather and, most of all, the injury report.
For this matchup, the low projected total should be a big part of the equation. A lower-scoring game doesn’t mean you should blindly bet Unders, but it can make volume-based props especially attractive. Carries, receptions, targets and pass attempts don’t need touchdowns or explosive plays to cash. These are the five things I weigh most heavily, and how each one applies on Thursday:
| Factor | What to Check | How It Applies Thursday |
|---|---|---|
| Volume | Dependable carries, targets or pass attempts | Metcalf leads Pittsburgh with 24 targets, and the Steelers throw on 64.7% of their plays, fourth-most in the league. |
| Game Script | How the expected score shapes each team’s play calling | Pittsburgh is a 2.5-point favorite. If Cleveland trails, Boston’s targets should go up, and a Steelers lead means more carries for Warren. |
| Short-Week Injuries | Practice participation and the final injury report | Dowdle (toe) has been ruled out, which leaves Warren as the lead back, and Cleveland has ruled out two starting offensive linemen. Inactives come about 90 minutes before kickoff. |
| Line Movement | Whether the number moved before you bet | The game total has dropped from 40.5 in August to 38.5. A prop you like at one number can be a pass after it moves several yards or half a reception. |
| Correlation | Props that need the same game script to win | This card fits one script: Pittsburgh moves the ball, and Cleveland throws to catch up. Don’t mix in bets that need the opposite. |
Even with all of that in mind, I keep landing on Overs this week.
Best Week 4 TNF Player Prop Bets
If I had to pick just one Week 4 TNF player prop, it would be Rodgers to clear 199.5 passing yards. It isn’t a very high bar, and Pittsburgh’s pass-first style and Cleveland’s issues line up to make it the bet that stands out.
This will probably be an ugly game that leans to the low-scoring side. Both defenses have held up: Pittsburgh allows 20 points per game (11th), and Cleveland has given up one touchdown in each of its last two games. The offenses are a different story. Pittsburgh’s finally looked sharp in Week 3, with a season-high 411 yards against Cincinnati. Cleveland’s didn’t: it gained 259 yards against Carolina and needed two fourth-quarter scoring drives, capped by Deshaun Watson’s go-ahead touchdown pass to Harold Fannin Jr., to win.
My initial lean is to favor the Steelers across the board. Mike McCarthy has won a Super Bowl as a head coach, Todd Monken is in his first season as an NFL head coach, and I think Pittsburgh has the better roster overall. The game is in Cleveland, though, which is a big reason I like a Browns prop on this card. The Browns have won their last nine home Thursday night games, four of them against Pittsburgh, and the Steelers have lost their last four trips to Cleveland.
Overall, it’s not a game I’m excited to bet straight up, but a few TNF player props stand out. If you want a refresher on how these markets are priced and settled, our guide to NFL player props walks through it. Prices on a Thursday game move all week, and they move fastest when inactives come out about 90 minutes before kickoff, so re-check every number before you bet.

Steelers vs. Browns Player Props FAQ
Quick answers to the questions bettors ask most about this game, based on the September 30, 2026 board.
What Are the Best Steelers vs. Browns Player Props for Thursday Night Football?
Our favorite Steelers vs. Browns player props for Week 4 are Aaron Rodgers over 199.5 passing yards (-145), DK Metcalf to score a touchdown (+235), Denzel Boston over 39.5 receiving yards (-103), Jaylen Warren over 59.5 rushing yards (-227) and T.J. Watt to record a sack once a book posts that market. Those are DraftKings prices from Wednesday evening, September 30, 2026. Rodgers is the one I’d bet if I could only make one: he’s averaging 233 passing yards a game, and Pittsburgh throws on 64.7% of its plays.
What Time Does Steelers vs. Browns Start on Thursday, and Where Can I Watch It?
The Steelers and Browns kick off at 8:15 p.m. ET on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland. The game streams nationally on Prime Video. Both teams come in at 2-1, and it’s Cleveland’s only scheduled prime-time game of the season.
What Should I Check Before Betting NFL Player Props on a Short Week?
Start with volume, because carries, targets, routes and pass attempts tell you more than one box score does. On a Thursday, add the injury report: teams hold walkthroughs early in the week, and final game designations don’t come out until Wednesday. Check the weather and the game total too, since a low total like this game’s 38.5 means fewer scoring chances.
Should I Bet Overs or Unders on Steelers vs. Browns Player Props with Such a Low Total?
Neither side should be automatically favored. The 38.5 total, tied for the lowest on DraftKings’ Week 4 board, can create chances for Unders, but volume-based Overs still make sense for players with big roles. Four of the five plays on this card are Overs, and all five lean on steady usage, like Metcalf’s team-high 24 targets and Pittsburgh’s 38.3 pass attempts a game.
Where Can I Legally Bet on Steelers vs. Browns Player Props?
You can bet them at a licensed sportsbook in any state where online sports betting is legal, as long as you are physically located in that state and meet its age requirement (21 in most states). By Wednesday evening, DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, Caesars, BetRivers and Fanatics had all posted props for this game, but the markets vary by book. Caesars, for example, had touchdown props and alternate yardage lines up but not the main yardage lines.
When Is the Best Time to Bet Thursday Night Football Player Props?
Bet when you like the number, but only after you’ve checked the injury news. Props for this game were up by Monday night, the final injury reports with game designations came out Wednesday, and inactives are announced about 90 minutes before kickoff. That last window is when prop prices move fastest.
