For the television piece we used the league’s own audience data from the 2025-26 season, which was a record year: 170 million people in the United States watched an NBA game across ABC/ESPN, Amazon Prime Video, NBC/Peacock and NBA TV, the most in 24 years and an 86% jump on the prior season. Nobody publishes per-game betting handle. States report sports-betting numbers monthly and in aggregate, and sportsbooks do not break out how much was wagered on a given regular-season NBA game. So this is a projection built from things we can verify (audience records, title-market pricing, market size, calendar position), not a report of dollar figures. Eight of the 10 come from the two slates announced on August 11, 2026. The other two are the NBA Cup final and the first of the league’s two European games, both of which were already locked into the calendar. Every date and tip time below is confirmed by the league.

This game has every ingredient stacked on top of each other. New York raises its first championship banner since 1973 and hands out rings, having beaten San Antonio 4-1 in the 2026 Finals behind a Jalen Brunson closing act that included 45 points in the Game 5 clincher. Then the Knicks play a Philadelphia team that added LeBron James and Jaylen Brown in the same offseason. It is a ring ceremony, two brand-name debuts, an Atlantic Division rivalry and the largest media market in the country, all inside one broadcast window on opening night.
2. Spurs at Knicks, December 25, 2026 (12 p.m. ET, ABC/ESPN)
The Finals rematch gets the Christmas noon window, which is the highest-reach slot the NBA has. Last season’s five-game Christmas slate averaged 5.5 million viewers on ESPN platforms and reached 47.2 million people, up 45% on the prior year. Put Victor Wembanyama at Madison Square Garden against the team that just took a title off San Antonio and the noon game becomes the day’s anchor rather than its warm-up act.
3. 76ers at Lakers, December 25, 2026 (5 p.m. ET, ABC/ESPN)
LeBron James goes back to Los Angeles in a Philadelphia uniform, in the late-afternoon window, on his record 21st Christmas appearance. He left the Lakers for a two-year deal worth roughly $8 million, close to the veteran minimum, and called it his last decision. Waiting for him are Luka Doncic and his son Bronny, whose contract the Lakers guaranteed for this season at $2.3 million. Games with this much personal subtext tend to pull in people who do not bet the NBA on a normal Tuesday.
4. Thunder at Spurs, October 20, 2026 (9:30 p.m. ET, NBC/Peacock)
Opening night closes with a Western Conference Finals rematch between the two shortest prices on the board. San Antonio won that series in Game 7 in Oklahoma City before losing the Finals. The season tips off with last year’s top two Eastern Conference seeds, and the seeding is the part people forget. Detroit finished 60-22 and Boston 56-26, which means the opening matinee is a one seed against a two seed before anyone has played a game. It is also Tatum’s first competitive basketball in more than a year, in a 3 p.m. window with no other NBA game on the board.
10. Spurs vs. Pelicans in Paris, January 14, 2027 (Accor Arena)
Wembanyama playing a regular-season NBA game in France is a genuine event, not a novelty fixture. The NBA Paris Game is the league’s sixth regular-season game in the city, and the Spurs and Pelicans run it back three days later at Co-op Live in Manchester on January 17, 2027, the first regular-season NBA game ever held in that city. European tips land in the late morning or early afternoon in the United States, a dead window where the game has almost no competition for attention.
What the Futures Market Says About These 10 Games
The 12 franchises appearing in these 10 games hold 83.2% of the vig-free championship market between them, leaving 16.8% for the other 18 teams. That is the cleanest evidence that the league front-loaded its marquee windows with the teams that matter: schedule-makers and bettors are, for once, looking at the same short list.
Here is how we got there. On August 11, 2026 at 14:27 UTC we pulled the full 30-team title board from FanDuel, BetMGM and BetRivers, took the median implied probability for each team across the three books, then removed the vig across the whole board at once rather than team by team. The raw board summed to 122.2%, so roughly 22 cents of every dollar in that market is house margin, which is normal for a 30-way future and is exactly why the raw prices overstate everyone.

Which Games Could Still Crack This List
The full 82-game schedule was not out when this list was built, so several likely contenders have no date attached yet. The league released Opening Week and Christmas Day on August 11, 2026 and put the complete calendar out on Thursday, August 13, 2026. Three categories of game are the ones to watch when it lands.
- The homecomings. LeBron James returns to Cleveland and Miami. Jaylen Brown plays his first game back in Boston. Antetokounmpo goes back to Milwaukee. Any of these lands in the top 10 if it gets a national window.
