Buccaneers vs. Cowboys Player Props: 5 Best Bets for Thursday Night Football

Football resting on a white yard line inside a domed stadium under bright lights

Week 5 opens on Thursday night, when the 2-2 Dallas Cowboys host the winless (0-4) Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Dallas has its sights set on getting above .500 for the first time in 2026, while the Bucs just want a win. My favorite Buccaneers vs. Cowboys player prop is rookie quarterback Jalon Daniels over 49.5 rushing yards at +125 on DraftKings, and I also like Daniels over 169.5 passing yards, Emeka Egbuka and Jake Ferguson to each clear 24.5 receiving yards, and George Pickens to score a touchdown.

Dallas should be the aggressor here, which sets up a pretty predictable game environment. The Cowboys are favored by 8.5 points, the biggest spread on DraftKings’ Week 5 board, but this is still a game with a solid 47.5 total, so there should be plenty of production to tap into. Last week’s Thursday Night Football card went 4-1: T.J. Watt got his sack, and Aaron Rodgers, Denzel Boston and Jaylen Warren all cleared their yardage numbers in Steelers vs. Browns, with DK Metcalf’s touchdown the only miss. The goal is to stay hot.

Kickoff is 8:15 p.m. ET on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, streaming on Prime Video. It’s the first Thursday game of the season for both teams, and both played on Sunday. You can lean on our latest NFL picks if you want a side, or you can take a quick look at my Buccaneers vs. Cowboys player props and then dive into why I like each bet.

Best Buccaneers vs. Cowboys Player Props

Here is the full card. All five prices are from DraftKings as of 9:41 a.m. ET on Wednesday, October 7, 2026. The confidence column shows how strongly I feel about each play. It is not a probability or a claim of value.

Player Prop Pick Odds Confidence
Jalon Daniels Passing Yards (170+) Over 169.5 -154 4/5
Emeka Egbuka Receiving Yards (25+) Over 24.5 -185 5/5
Jalon Daniels Rushing Yards (50+) Over 49.5 +125 5/5
George Pickens Anytime Touchdown Yes +120 4/5
Jake Ferguson Receiving Yards (25+) Over 24.5 -145 5/5

Of the six regulated books we priced, DraftKings has the best number on Egbuka and on Daniels’ rushing yards, and it is the only one offering Daniels’ passing yards at 169.5. It trails other books on Pickens and Ferguson, so this card is worth shopping.

Where Each Prop Pays the Most Right Now

As of 9:41 a.m. ET on October 7, 2026, BetMGM has Pickens to score at +130 (DraftKings +120), so a $100 winner returns $230 instead of $220, and FanDuel has Ferguson over 24.5 receiving yards at -138 (DraftKings -145). DraftKings has the best price on Daniels over 49.5 rushing yards at +125 (+123 at BetRivers, +118 at FanDuel) and on Egbuka over 24.5 receiving yards at -185 (-215 at FanDuel, -250 at BetMGM). For Daniels’ passing yards, FanDuel, BetRivers and Fanatics use 174.5 instead of 169.5 (-136, -141 and -130).

Buccaneers vs. Cowboys Odds and Game Info

Dallas is an 8.5-point home favorite at DraftKings (-112), and the total is 47.5. This game looked very different over the summer: DraftKings opened it at Cowboys -3.5 with a 52.5 total on August 13, the first day our odds archive has it. When the line came back on September 29, two days after Baker Mayfield dislocated the thumb on his throwing hand and with Tampa Bay sitting at 0-3, it was Cowboys -9.5 and 47.5.

The spread touched -10 on Sunday evening and has moved back toward the Bucs since. DraftKings dropped to -8.5 on Tuesday morning and was still there on Wednesday morning, along with FanDuel, BetRivers and BetMGM, while Caesars and Fanatics were at -8. The total hasn’t budged from 47.5 since the line reposted, and it’s the third-highest on DraftKings’ 15-game Week 5 board.

Final injury designations for a Thursday game don’t come out until Wednesday afternoon, so here is where things stood on Wednesday morning, after two days of practice reports. None of the five players on this card is listed. For Tampa Bay, Mayfield (right thumb) has not practiced, and the team expects him to miss at least two more games. Safety Antoine Winfield Jr. is expected to miss two to four weeks with a rib fracture, cornerback Benjamin Morrison (quad) and linebacker SirVocea Dennis (ankle/foot) also sat out Monday and Tuesday, and kicker Chase McLaughlin (groin/hip) was added on Tuesday as a non-participant.

For Dallas, cornerback Cobie Durant, linebacker DeMarvion Overshown and tackle Drew Shelton (all with hamstring injuries) have not practiced, guard Tyler Smith (thumb) has been limited as he works back from injured reserve, and CeeDee Lamb (thigh) was a full participant both days, per the Cowboys’ injury report. Tampa Bay’s practice labels are estimates because the team held walk-throughs. AT&T Stadium has a retractable roof, so weather is much less of a concern than it was in Cleveland last week.

1. Jalon Daniels Over 169.5 Passing Yards (-154)

This Thursday Night Football prop bet is largely about Dallas being bad on defense, plus the likely game flow. Daniels is an undrafted rookie out of Kansas who took over when Mayfield got hurt, and Todd Bowles has confirmed he’ll start again on Thursday.

Why I’m betting it: Dallas has given up a lot of production to opposing quarterbacks. The Cowboys come into TNF allowing 242.5 gross passing yards per game, tied for 12th-most in the NFL, and they have given up nine touchdown passes without an interception. On top of the matchup looking good, the Cowboys are favored by more than a touchdown. If Dallas lives up to its billing as the betting favorite, Daniels will have to throw the ball a good amount, and he has the weapons to generate yardage through the air in Egbuka, Chris Godwin and Cade Otton.

The key stat: 148 passing yards in his first NFL start, on 27 attempts against Green Bay. I think Daniels gets a little more comfortable and has more success as a passer this week, and Dallas shouldn’t make him nearly as uncomfortable. The Cowboys rank 29th in sack rate (3.36%) and have four sacks in four games. The -154 price needs him to clear 169.5 about 61% of the time.

The risk: He has to be better than he was last week just to get there. Daniels averaged 5.5 yards per attempt against the Packers, threw two interceptions and took three sacks, and Tampa Bay has allowed 16 sacks, the most in the NFL. Mayfield’s three starts produced 216, 182 and 217 passing yards, so this offense wasn’t piling up yardage with its starter, either. This price has also gotten more expensive, going from -146 on Tuesday evening to -154 as DraftKings raised his main line from 179.5 to 181.5. That main line is -111 if you’d rather take a bigger number at a cheaper price.

The verdict: Over 169.5 passing yards (-154 at DraftKings). The 170-yard total really isn’t a high bar to clear. Confidence: 4/5.

2. Emeka Egbuka Over 24.5 Receiving Yards (-185)

Whether Jalon Daniels takes advantage of this matchup or not, this yardage line for Emeka Egbuka looks awfully low to me. The game total, the matchup and the game flow all point to Tampa Bay airing it out.

Why I’m betting it: It’s true that Egbuka only had 13 receiving yards last week, but he still leads the Bucs in targets (24) and leads their wide receivers in yards (154), and he has cleared this low yardage total in two of four games in 2026 (63 and 62 yards). The matchup helps, too. Dallas has allowed 168.3 receiving yards per game to wide receivers, ninth-most in the league.

The key stat: 13 of 17. As a rookie in 2025, Egbuka had at least 25 receiving yards in 13 of his 17 games. At -185, you need him to clear 24.5 about 65% of the time.

The risk: His two misses this season weren’t close: 16 yards against Cleveland and 13 against Green Bay. In Daniels’ first start, Egbuka caught two passes while Godwin caught six, and Otton, the tight end, now leads Tampa Bay in receiving yards (157). DraftKings’ main line for Egbuka is only 33.5, so the market isn’t expecting a big night. The price has also moved against us: this bet was -165 on Tuesday evening and -185 on Wednesday morning, after that main line climbed two yards.

The verdict: Over 24.5 receiving yards (-185 at DraftKings, the best price of the six books we checked). The odds aren’t super juicy, and they’ve moved past the -170 I like to stay under, so I wouldn’t chase this one any higher. I’m still comfortable playing it on its own. Confidence: 5/5.

3. Jalon Daniels Over 49.5 Rushing Yards (+125)

We’re laying a price with Egbuka at -185, but we get plus money back with this Jalon Daniels rushing yardage bet.

Why I’m betting it: Daniels is a very mobile passer who is not afraid to take off and run. He was quite dynamic at Kansas (more than 400 rushing yards in each of his last two seasons), and we saw his athletic traits on display last week when he ran for 55 yards on eight carries. The Buccaneers say that’s a franchise record for a rookie quarterback. Dallas may work to contain Daniels, but I’m not sure it can. The Cowboys don’t have a very good defense (28th in points allowed and 31st against the run), and it has specifically struggled with quarterback containment in 2026.

The key stat: 47 rushing yards per game. That’s what Dallas has allowed to opposing quarterbacks (188 yards on 27 carries), and literally nobody gives up more, per FootballDB’s positional numbers. Jaxson Dart ran for 54 yards against this defense, Jayden Daniels for 69 and Lamar Jackson for 50.

The risk: Fifty yards is a lot to ask of any quarterback. Daniels cleared this number by five yards in his only start, and Dart, Jayden Daniels and Jackson are all established running threats. C.J. Stroud managed 12 yards on two carries against Dallas last week. At +125, you need Daniels to get there about 44% of the time. The payout has improved from +116 on Tuesday evening because DraftKings lowered his main line a yard to 44.5, which is five yards under our number.

The verdict: Over 49.5 rushing yards (+125 at DraftKings, +123 at BetRivers). This feels like quite the plus-money bet to target on Thursday Night Football. Confidence: 5/5.

4. George Pickens Anytime Touchdown (+120)

We move from one plus-money TNF prop bet to another. Daniels is the safer play, but I really like the odds for Pickens to score his first touchdown of the season.

Why I’m betting it: It’s been the CeeDee Lamb Show through four weeks. Lamb leads the NFL with 37 catches and 498 receiving yards, and he has four of Dak Prescott’s eight touchdown passes. Pickens has none, even though he’s second on the team with 18 catches and 225 yards, and I don’t think that lasts much longer. Tampa Bay’s coverage probably doesn’t hurt his case, either. The Bucs actually limit wide receivers quite well, holding them to 105.8 yards per game, second-fewest in the league. Lamb could still get his, but the tougher-than-advertised matchup could force the Cowboys to get creative when trying to punch the ball into the end zone.

Pickens made two big plays last week in Houston, with catches of 53 and 22 yards, and he has had big prime-time nights as a Cowboy: 134 yards and two touchdowns against Green Bay on a Sunday night last September, and 144 yards and a score at Las Vegas on a Monday night in November.

The key stat: 8 of 17. Pickens scored in eight of his 17 games last season and finished with nine touchdowns. At +120, he needs to score about 45% of the time to break even.

The risk: He’s 0-for-4 this season, and Prescott’s touchdown passes have gone to Lamb (four), Ferguson (three) and Javonte Williams (one). Williams also has five rushing touchdowns, so Dallas hasn’t needed Pickens near the goal line. Thursdays weren’t kind to him last year, either: Pickens didn’t score in any of Dallas’ four Thursday games in 2025. And the matchup cuts both ways, since a secondary that limits wide receivers can limit him, too.

The verdict: Anytime touchdown, yes (+120 at DraftKings, +130 at BetMGM, +123 at BetRivers). I think he finally scores in Week 5. Confidence: 4/5.

5. Jake Ferguson Over 24.5 Receiving Yards (-145)

Lastly, we have a pretty low bar for Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson to clear. He is not hyper-involved in the Dallas passing attack, but this bet also lines up with what I just went over.

Why I’m betting it: Not only are the Buccaneers pretty good at containing wide receivers, they have been particularly bad against tight ends. Tampa Bay has allowed 68.3 receiving yards per game to the position, sixth-most in the league, and opposing tight end groups have topped 70 yards in three of its four games (101, 71, 11 and 90). If the Bucs are successful at limiting Lamb or even Pickens, their coverage could push Prescott to go to Ferguson more than usual. Tampa Bay is also expected to be without Winfield, a starting safety.

The key stat: 10 of 17. Ferguson has only topped 25 receiving yards once so far in 2026 (43 against Washington), but last year he did it in 10 different games. At -145, you need him to clear 24.5 about 59% of the time.

The risk: The role is smaller than it was. Ferguson has 12 catches for 83 yards in four games, and three of those catches were touchdowns, which doesn’t help a yardage bet. Go back to the end of last season and he has reached 25 yards in only one of his last eight games. You’re betting on the matchup here, because the recent form doesn’t back it up.

The verdict: Over 24.5 receiving yards (-145 at DraftKings, -138 at FanDuel). Even beyond the matchup, this is just a very low yardage total to clear. Confidence: 5/5.

Buccaneers vs. Cowboys Player Prop Betting Strategy

I think a big mistake bettors often make is only attacking star players’ props. Betting the stars is still a fine idea, since they tend to be featured, but we can also target lower lines or roll with secondary options depending on the matchup.

Heading into Thursday Night Football, I see Pickens and Ferguson as two guys who could go overlooked despite being in better-than-expected spots. I also think we can double dip with Jalon Daniels, as just about everything in this game environment bodes well for his props.

Javonte Williams is probably the safest touchdown scorer on the board. He has six touchdowns in four games, five of them on the ground. But DraftKings has him priced at a ghastly -230, which means he has to score about 70% of the time just to break even, and Tampa Bay has allowed one rushing touchdown all season. We need to aim higher than that, and if we do eat some odds, I’d rather keep it under -170 and make it a lot more attainable. Here is how that thinking applies to this card:

Factor What to Check How It Applies Thursday
Lower Lines An alternate line below the book’s main number All three minus-money plays sit under DraftKings’ main line: Daniels 169.5 (main 181.5), Egbuka 24.5 (main 33.5) and Ferguson 24.5 (main 28.5).
Secondary Options Players behind the star in the pecking order Lamb has four of Prescott’s eight touchdown passes. Ferguson has three, and Pickens is still waiting on his first.
Game Script How the spread shapes each team’s play calling Dallas is favored by 8.5. A Tampa Bay team playing from behind throws more, which helps Daniels’ passing yards and Egbuka.
Price Ceiling How much you have to lay to win $100 Egbuka (-185) has drifted past my -170 line since Tuesday. Everything else on this card is -154 or cheaper, and Williams to score is -230.
Correlation Bets that depend on the same player or script Two of the five plays ride on Daniels. A rough night for the rookie, or an injury, would sink both.
Short-Week News Wednesday’s final injury report and Thursday’s inactives Final designations come out Wednesday, and inactives are announced about 90 minutes before kickoff.

That last row matters more than usual this week. Daniels has made one NFL start, so any news about Tampa Bay’s quarterback plan can move two of these five bets at once.

Best Week 5 TNF Player Prop Bets

If I had to pick just one Week 5 TNF player prop, it would be Daniels over 49.5 rushing yards. He cleared that number in his first NFL start, he’s facing the defense that has allowed the most quarterback rushing yards in the league, and you’re getting plus money on it.

My Week 5 TNF prop bets are a mix of low bars and plus-money swings. You get two plus-money wagers, some matchup-reliant bets, and overall five picks that cater to a high-scoring but lopsided affair in favor of Dallas. The Cowboys rank second in the NFL at 30.5 points per game, and they’re coming off a 34-30 win at Houston in which Lamb caught 17 passes for 189 yards. These teams last met in December 2024, when Dallas won 26-24 at home.

Tampa Bay is a mess. The Bucs are 0-4 for the first time since 2013 and haven’t topped 20 points since Week 1. In fairness, they haven’t been blown out: all four losses were by seven points or fewer, and the spread has come down from 10 to 8.5 since Sunday. I still don’t think they avoid an 0-5 start, but the matchup is favorable enough that the Daniels and Egbuka lines are worth playing. As noted, sometimes TNF prop betting is more about capitalizing on low lines than aiming high for ambitious odds.

Last week’s TNF props went 4-1, and one good week doesn’t promise another. Just make sure you play these picks separately, as parlays create extra risk where one leg can ruin a strong list of plays. If you want a refresher on how these markets are priced and settled, our guide to NFL player props walks through it. Prices on a Thursday game move all week, and they move fastest when inactives come out about 90 minutes before kickoff, so re-check every number before you bet.

Buccaneers vs. Cowboys Player Props FAQ

Quick answers to the questions bettors ask most about this game, based on the October 7, 2026 board.

What Are the Best Buccaneers vs. Cowboys Player Props for Thursday Night Football?

My five favorite Buccaneers vs. Cowboys player props for Week 5 are Jalon Daniels over 49.5 rushing yards (+125), Jalon Daniels over 169.5 passing yards (-154), Emeka Egbuka over 24.5 receiving yards (-185), Jake Ferguson over 24.5 receiving yards (-145) and George Pickens to score a touchdown (+120). Those are DraftKings prices from Wednesday morning, October 7, 2026. Daniels’ rushing prop is the one I’d bet if I could only make one, because Dallas has allowed 47 rushing yards per game to quarterbacks, the most in the NFL.

Which Jalon Daniels Prop Is the Better Bet on Thursday Night, Rushing Yards or Passing Yards?

I like the rushing prop more. Daniels ran for 55 yards on eight carries in his first NFL start, and over 49.5 rushing yards pays +125 at DraftKings against a Dallas defense that has given up more quarterback rushing yards than any other team. The passing prop (over 169.5 at -154) asks him to improve on the 148 yards he threw for against Green Bay, so I rate it a notch lower.

What Is the Best Cowboys Player Prop Against the Buccaneers This Week?

Jake Ferguson over 24.5 receiving yards is my top Cowboys prop. Tampa Bay has allowed 68.3 receiving yards per game to tight ends, sixth-most in the league, and Ferguson topped 25 yards in 10 games last season. The catch is his role: he has cleared that number only once in four games this year.

Who Should I Bet to Score a Touchdown in Buccaneers vs. Cowboys?

George Pickens is my preferred anytime touchdown scorer at +120 on DraftKings (+130 at BetMGM). He hasn’t scored yet in 2026, but he’s second on the Cowboys with 18 catches and 225 yards, and he found the end zone in eight of 17 games last season. Javonte Williams is the favorite to score at -230, a price that needs him to get in about 70% of the time.

Where Can I Legally Bet on Buccaneers vs. Cowboys Player Props?

You can bet them at a licensed sportsbook in any state where online sports betting is legal, as long as you are physically located in that state and meet its age requirement (21 in most states). By Wednesday morning, DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, Caesars, BetRivers and Fanatics had all posted props for this game. The markets and prices vary by book, so compare current lines before you place a wager.

Should I Parlay These Thursday Night Football Player Props or Bet Them Separately?

I’d bet them separately. Parlays can produce larger payouts, but every leg generally has to win, so one miss sinks the whole ticket. Two of these five plays also ride on Jalon Daniels, which means a bad night for one player would cost you twice.
